Seelos Therapeutics, Inc. (Nasdaq: SEEL), a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company focused on the development of therapies for central nervous system disorders and rare diseases, announced it has been added to the Russell 2000®, Russell 3000® and Russell Microcap® Indexes effective after the U.S. markets open today, June 28, 2021, as part of the 2021 Russell US Indexes Reconstitution.
"The inclusion of Seelos into the Russell 2000, 3000 and microcap indexes should help increase our exposure in the investment community and is a tribute to the progress we have made building the company over the past year," said Raj Mehra, PhD, Chairman and CEO of Seelos.
Membership in the US all-cap Russell 3000® Index, which remains in place for one year, means automatic inclusion in the large-cap Russell 1000® Index or small-cap Russell 2000® Index as well as the appropriate growth and value style indexes. The Russell Microcap® Index represents 2,000 small cap and microcap stocks and captures the smallest 1,000 companies in the Russell 2000®, in addition to 1,000 smaller U.S.-based listed stocks. FTSE Russell determines membership for its Russell indexes primarily by objective, market-capitalization rankings, and style attributes.
Russell indexes are widely used by investment managers and institutional investors for index funds and as benchmarks for active investment strategies. Approximately $10.6 trillion in assets are benchmarked against Russell's US indexes. Russell indexes are part of FTSE Russell, a leading global index provider.
